The Backups:

Rotational Pieces:

  • RS SO – Jack DeFoor*: There is still questions regarding if DeFoor is eligible to play this season for the Yellow Jackets. If he is, expect DeFoor to be challenging for a potential starting spot but at the very least being a rotational piece on the offensive line. With a ton of potential turnover on the offensive line after 2018, DeFoor should be a starter for his redshirt junior season.
  • SO – Connor Hansen: Hansen appeared in two games for the Jackets last season. He didn’t see a ton of snaps over his two games but did get a taste of some action. With a strong spring and summer, he could challenge for rotational snaps for this fall.
  • RS FR – Mickey Minihan: The Hawaii native didn’t see any playing time last year as a true freshman but could be competing for a rotational spot through the rest of the spring, summer, and fall.
  • RS JR – Scott Morgan: Morgan will be the backup center for the Jackets this season but doesn’t have a ton of experience only seeing time in three games last season.
  • RS JR – Brad  Morgan

: A back injury cut the other Morgan’s season short last year but returns to the field this spring in much better healthy. Morgan should see some snaps come this fall, mostly behind Parker Braun and should be one of the more reliable backups the Jackets have.

    • RS Sr  – Jake Stickler: Stickler is in a tough situation, last season he started in all 10 games that he played in. However, Andrew Marshall will be back and should be fully healthy come this fall. Marshall could take the starting spot back from Stickler or the Jackets may choose to keep Stickler as the starter in 2018. It will be one of the biggest story lines for the Jackets heading into next season.

Overall, the Jackets return an offensive line in 2018 that has experience and has the talent to make the Jackets a more balanced and dangerous offense in 2018. If the offensive line continues its’ struggles from last season, the offensive may be in for a repeat of last season.
