A little over two weeks ago, the Villanova Wildcats won their third National Championship in school history and their second championship in three seasons.

Over the past five seasons, Villanova has been nearly unbeatable, collecting a 165-21 overall record. They are also the first program in NCAA history to win 32+ games in four straight seasons. However, the most amazing fact about Villanova might just be that as a program they have not lost back-to-back games in the last five years. It’s safe to say right now that Villanova is the premier program in college basketball meaning everyone wants to replicate you and everybody wants to beat you.

While every program may want to try and replicate Villanova’s blueprint, there are very few programs that are strong matches for the blueprint. Luckily, Georgia Tech is a pretty strong match for the Villanova blueprint. Both are located in basketball crazy cities an are strong academic schools though GT is harder to get into. For those who are unaware, Villanova is located just a few miles outside Philadelphia in Radnor, Pennsylvania. While it’s not in downtown Philadelphia, it still is located in one of the biggest basketball cities in America and it takes advantage of that proximity.

That being said, both schools share plenty of similarities that gives the Yellow Jackets a strong blueprint to use in building their program. We’ll take a look at the programs in terms of defense, offense, roster construction, and a secret key to building a program.
