Former four-star recruit James Banks is currently on an official visit to Georgia Tech.

Former four-star recruit and Georgia born center James Banks is currently on an official visit to Georgia Tech according to Evan Daniels who reported the news yesterday. Official visits usually go on for two to three days meaning Banks could be on campus until Tuesday potentially.

Banks, who just finished his sophomore season is looking to transfer from the University of Texas. One of the top 10 ranked centers in the 2016 recruiting class and was heavily recruited by several big time programs including Kansas would bring a good amount of experience to the Yellow Jackets would he choose the Yellow Jackets.

Banks over his first two seasons in Austin played in 46 games for the Longhorns but failed to make any notable impact.

In his freshman season, Banks played in 32 games for the Longhorns and averaged 12 minutes a game. In his 12 minutes, Banks would average 1.7 points-0.2 assists-2.5 rebounds per game. He would also average 1.2 blocks.

This past season, Banks saw his playing time cut dramatically, appearing in just 14 games and averaging just over six minutes per game. Despite a cut in playing time, Banks put up similar numbers with 1.6 points and 1.7 rebounds per game.

Entering next season, the Jackets have only one true center on their roster in Avi Schafer. The Jackets will be without Ben Lammers as he has graduated from Tech.

Even if Banks would come to Georgia Tech, he would not be eligible to play for the Jackets until the 2019-2020 season as he would have to sit out a season due to transfer eligibility regulations. We will be sure to provide updates on Banks recruitment as time goes on.
