Georgia Tech Football’s Five Most Important Games of 2018: #4) Friday Night Lights
The fourth most important game of the season for the Georgia Tech football team is their Friday night showdown against Louisville.
It may be hard to believe but the Georgia Tech football program has never faced Louisville. That will change this season when the Jackets travel to Kentucky to face the Cardinals. It is also our fourth most important game if the season for the Yellow Jackets.
he last few seasons, facing Louisville would’ve been a daunting challenge. But the good news about facing Louisville this upcoming season is that they will be without a generational talent (college football wise) in Lamar Jackson which will certainly take a bite out of the Cardinals offense. That being said, despite having such a talent at quarterback the last two seasons, Louisville under performed expectations and now with a new quarterback in Jawon Pass, the Cardinals are bit of an unknown in the ACC.
That being said, the Friday night showdown in Louisville comes at an important part of the season for the Yellow Jackets. First of all, the game truly marks the midway mark of the Jackets season and will be their third ACC game after facing Pittsburgh and Clemson respectively. If the Yellow Jackets hope to win the ACC Coastal they’ll need to pickup a win in at least one of their crossover games. With a win over Clemson pretty unlikely considering the circumstances, that leaves the Louisville game being highly important.

A road win over Louisville would put the Jackets in a great spot too make a run at the ACC Coastal in their second half of the season even with a loss to Clemson. However, if the Jackets leave the Bluegrass State with a loss, it could put the Jackets back to the wall earlier than they would’ve hoped in what should shape up to be a tight ACC Coastal race.
