Pressley Harvin III will continue to have punting duties for the Jackets in 2018 and will look to build upon his impressive 2017 season.

What he did in 2017:

Pressley was impressive in 2017 averaging 44.1 yards per punt which was good enough for second in the ACC. His average punt was also good enough to set a new school record for a freshman beating the old one of 43.8 yards per punt. He also become the first freshman since Tech legend Calvin Johnson to be named a member of an All-ACC team. In 50 punts on the season, 16 of them were downed inside of the 20, 13 traveled 50 plus yards, and only 21 were returned.

His season long was a 62-yard punt against Miami and averaged at least 40 yards per punt in 10 of 11 games overall. His ability to flip the field made him a weapon for the defense and good punting will always help a defense when they are pinned inside of their own twenty-yard line.

Overall his freshman season was more than anyone could have desired from the South Carolina native and his ability to flip the field will be a huge weapon going foward.

What to expect in 2018:

Harvin has been named to the Ray Guy Award watch list which is awarded to the best punter in the country. The focus in camp this spring has been more on the punt coverage game than the punter himself, so Harvin is solidly positioned to be the starter for the punting job in 2018.

If he can find a way to be as consistent as he was last season there should be no question he will be close to leading the ACC in the stat again in 2018. It is never a position that a team hopes to use during a game but having a person like Harvin kicking for you makes you feel a lot better about calling on him in a big situation to pin a team deep.
