Team MVP:

Dylan Callaghan-Croley: LB Brant Mitchell

I’m going to go with a not so obvious pick here and pick linebacker Brant Mitchell. When healthy, Mitchell has All-ACC potential and I think in the new aggressive defense, Mitchell has a chance to take a huge step forward. He’s expected to be a leader on defense both on and off the field and I think he comes in clutch throughout the season with big plays. If he goes down with an injury, you’ll see the noticeable hole that he leaves.

Lee Cagle: QB TaQuon Marshall (his arm in particular)

I am very excited to see Marshall improve his completion percentage from last season and with the potential breakout of Jalen Camp in the WR corps alongside Brad Stewart then the passing game could be more than a wrinkle for the offense this season.

Anthony Hartwig: QB TaQuon Marshall

Simply put he’s the biggest playmaker on the offensive side of the ball. Also if you’re running a triple option and your QB isn’t the MVP then you have a problem.

Mitch Green: WR Jalen Camp

A significant issue with the offense the last three years has been the absence of an explosive wide receiver that keeps opponents honest. We all saw what DeAndre Smelter was able to provide this offense within 2014, and I anticipate Camp will open eyes with multiple dynamic plays that the team has been missing in key games. At the end of the season, he may not have the most impressive numbers on the team, but it will be his presence that allows every other player to perform better.

Blake Silvers: QB TaQuon Marshall

The season is set up to be the the TaQuon Marshall show. Without solid play at quarterback from Marshall, there’s no way Tech can win in 2018 on a consistent basis. He needs a 1,000/1,000 season and there’s really no reason he shouldn’t get it.
