Linebackers: B+

One position group that really stood out in Saturday’s win was the linebackers. The linebackers in the win were lead by David Curry who returned from a two-year absence after battling through injuries. In his performance, Curry record four tackles and a scoop-and-score, scoring his first career touchdown.

The rest of the linebackers including Brant Mitchell and Quon Henderson were rather impressive and looked comfortable in the new and more aggressive style defense. They were out of position at times throughout the game but for a first game in a new defense, the linebackers were stellar and could be a strong point of the Georgia Tech defense this season.

While it wasn’t recorded on the stat sheet, freshman linebacker Justice Dingle had a tremendous hit on the ball carrier on David Curry’s scoop-and-score touchdown. When reviewing the play, it’s easy to see that Dingle’s hit was the one that truly caused the fumble resulting in an eventual touchdown.
