Review

Let’s start by stating the biggest difference between the two types of outside linebackers that Nate Woody utilizes in his defense. The JACK linebacker plays almost exclusively on the line, and the playing time in this spot was dominated early on by Victor Alexander. They are also often tasked with rushing the passer on any pass play.

The STGR plays more like a third safety on the field that primarily plays in the box. They are also tasked with playing the slot receiver. That being said, their number can be called on the occasional blitz, and the lone sack of the day came from STGR Christian Campbell.

Overall, it was difficult to make any judgment on this group. They had the lone sack, and Alexander appeared to have no issues holding his own in the run game. My optimism is high for these players, and I expect them to improve as the season goes on.

Standout Performer

Christian Campbell – He did not get many opportunities in this game early on, but he did make the most of his one opportunity. Since he had the lone highlight play, I will give the award to him this week.
