How the defense performs in it’s first real test

The defense passed it’s first test of the season last week agains Alcorn State but as we mentioned yesterday, South Florida’s offense is on a whole other level than the Braves. The Bulls offense is filled with talent across the board and if the Yellow Jackets don’t come to play on Saturday, it will be a long afternoon.

The defensive line had a good first showing against the Braves but will need to make more impact plays against the Bulls to pull out a victory. The linebackers looked strong a week ago and Quez Jackson earned an All-ACC honor from Pro Football Focus for his effort. This week, they’ll get back one of their top players in sophomore Bruce Jordan-Swilling, a much welcomed addition to the middle of the Jackets defense.

One place that the Jackets will be tested this weekend is in the secondary. The secondary last weekend only allowed 79-yards through the air but they didn’t have to face a five-star talent like they will this weekend with quarterback Blake Barnett behind center for the Bulls. The Bulls offense has a plethora of weapons that will certainly test the young secondary.
