Another kickoff time for Georgia Tech football’s 2018 schedule has been filled in. Georgia Tech’s official football account announced the time via social media. While fans won’t have to sit through another noon kickoff and hot September day, they won’t get to experience a beautiful September night at Bobby Dodd either.
The official kickoff time for Georgia Tech vs Clemson has officially been set for 3:30 pm. The game will be televised nationally on either ABC or ESPN2 as well.
The meeting on September 22nd between the two schools will be the 84th meeting all time and the Jackets still hold a comfortable lead in the series despite losing each of the last three. Currently, the Yellow Jackets hold a 50-30-3 record against the Tigers.
As mentioned above, the Tigers have won each of the last three games between the two programs, all by double digits. Last season, the Yellow Jackets fell to the than seventh ranked Tigers 24-10 in Death Valley. The Paul Johnson tenure at Georgia Tech against Clemson started off well, with the Yellow Jackets winning four of the first five matchups between the two schools following the Paul Johnson hiring.
Since then, the Tigers have dominated the series winning six of eight. Like the last three games, all six of the Tigers wins over the eight year period have come in the form of double-digit victories. The last time that the Yellow Jackets successfully took down the Tigers was in 2014 when the Jackets dominated Clemson en route to a 28-6 victory.
Currently, the Tigers sit at 2-0 on the season and are coming off an upset scare at the hands of Texas A&M and former Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher. This upcoming weekend the Tigers take on Georgia Southern, which means they should be 3-0 entering next weekend’s matchup.
The Yellow Jackets on the other hand are 1-1 on the season after a gut punching loss to USF on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets will look to improve to above .500 before taking on the Tigers as they travel to Pittsburgh on Saturday to open up their ACC conference schedule as they take on the Pittsburgh Panthers.
