The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets take on the Louisville Cardinals on Friday night as the Jackets look to get to .500 for the first time in over a month.

First off, I’d like to apologize for our slow week here at YJU. Our personal life got in the way this week and there are some things in life that simply outweigh sports. That being said, we hope to be back to our usual production next week as long as life corporates. But let’s get into this week’s Gameday preview!

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets haven’t been .500 or over in almost a month but they’ll look to change that come Friday night against the Louisville Cardinals. The Jackets will travel to the “Blue Grass State” to take on the Cardinals for the first time in program history.

The Cardinals entered 2018 with a ton of questions and was expected to have their fair share of struggles. That being said, not many people saw the struggles that they’ve had coming this season. After being dominated by Alabama in week one, the Cardinals have been stumbling ever since. Losers of two straight, the Cardinals look to get back to .500 themselves and pick up their first Power 5 victory of the season.

What they did last week:

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets: 63-17 victory over Bowling Green

The Yellow Jackets ran all over the Bowling Green Falcons, rushing for almost 400-yards while tacking on eight rushing touchdowns for the game. The defense started off shaky but settled in and dominated after giving up 10-points in the first 20 minutes.

Louisville Cardinals: 28-24 loss to Florida State

The Cardinals lead Florida State 24-14 heading into the fourth quarter but the Cardinals defense collapsed in the final quarter, allowing 14 points. The loss was the Cardinals second straight after dominated by Virginia the week before.

Odds and Prediction: Georgia Tech (-4)

Georgia Tech covered last week’s game, marking the first time in 2018 that they were able to successfully do so. This week, they’re a four-point favorite over the Cardinals who have struggled consistently throughout this season. If you asked last week if the Jackets would cover, I would be skeptical but I think the Jackets continue their momentum on Friday night and cover the spread in a 38-21 victory.

I expect to see TaQuon Marshall to take advantage of a weaker Louisville defense. The offense has a ton of momentum and the defense is coming off one of its best games of the season. That being said, I expect Louisville to score some points but I’d shocked if the Jackets don’t win this game. Look for the Jackets to pull away late eh route to a double-digit victory.
