Cornerbacks:

Lamont Simmons

Despite being one of the older members of the Jackets cornerback room, Simmons has not put up the numbers like the other corners. One major reason for that has been his health, playing in just four out of seven games this season. But when he does play Simmons has been solid for the Jackets, totaling 14 tackles and one interception. Hopefully, he can see more playing time over the next five games.

Grade: B

Jaytlin Askew

The sophomore defensive back has played in five games for the Jackets so far this season and has produced rather well with 17 tackles including one for a loss. The production is there for Askew, now he just needs to put it all together.

Grade: B/B+

Tre Swilling

Tre has only appeared in five games for the Yellow Jackets this season but does have 11 tackles including one sack. He also has one pass deflection and one forced fumble. Overall, it’s quality production out of a reserve. Pro Football Focus also ranks him as one of the top cover corners in the ACC.

Grade: A+

Ajani Kerr

Kerr has had a tough season through seven games. Despite having 25 tackles this season, Kerr has been responsible for multiple touchdowns allowed this season as well as some untimely penalties that have cost the defense. He’ll need to improve greatly over the next five if the Jackets hope to make a bowl game this season.
