Georgia Tech came away Saturday night with a big 27-21 victory over Miami and the three players below are a huge reasons for the victory.

Offense: QB TaQuon Marshall

After watching Tobias Oliver be the star of the show against Virginia Tech and North Carolina, TaQuon Marshall reasserted himself on Saturday night and with authority. The redshirt senior got the start and never really relinquished the field. He finished the evening with 92 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries while picking up 73-yards on three completions through the air.

Marshall will get the start once again this upcoming Saturday in what will be his last game on The Flats. He enters this weekend’s match-up against Virginia with 751 rushing yards and 718 passing yards. He’s only 31-yards away from breaking the 2,000 career rushing yards mark and is six touchdowns away from 50 career total touchdowns.

Defense: STGR Jalen Johnson

The senior had one of his best days of the season, racking up eight tackles including two tackles for a loss. With two games remaining on the season, Johnson ranks third on the team with 41 tackles and second on team in tackles for a loss with 4.5. Only defensive lineman Anree Saint-Amour is ahead of Johnson with 10.5 TFLs.

Special Teams: K Wesley Wells

Wesley Wells has given the Yellow Jackets the consistency they have looked for since the departure Harrison Butker. Against Miami, the freshman placekicker had another strong day, making his two field goal attempts while making the three extra-points he attempted. So far this season, Wells has yet to miss a kick of any kind, making all four of his field goal attempts (22, 23, 38, 41) and making all 35 of his extra point attempts.

Obviously, the Yellow Jackets coaching staff doesn’t trust him all that much outside of 40+ yards but for now he gives the Yellow Jackets stability at a position of need.
