Georgia Tech will play Virginia at 3:30 on Saturday with the Jackets looking for revenge, and the Cavaliers looking to keep their Coastal Division dreams alive. Here are two players that could have impactful roles for both teams.

Virginia: WR/Return Specialist Joe Reed

It is no secret that special teams’ coverage has been an issue for the Jackets this season, and Joe Reed could be a dangerous piece for Virginia to play on Saturday. Last week, Reed torched Liberty on four returns for 193 yards including a TD. He also had two touchdown receptions to go with his return game.

Georgia Tech QB Taquon Marshall:

Last week against Miami Taquon Marshall proved again why he won the starting job for this season rushing for 91 yards and 2 TD’s also going 3-for-4 with another touchdown in the passing game. Marshall was not exactly sharp against Miami, but he was certainly the driver of the offense on a night that saw more situational downs than any game that I can remember. Coach Johnson still wants to use Tobias Oliver as much as possible, so time will tell who gets the most snaps against Virginia.

Virginia QB Bryce Perkins:

Bryce Perkins is a junior transfer from Arizona State and former JUCO player to the Cavaliers that have their offense clicking in a way they haven’t in several seasons. The dual-threat quarterback could become the first 1000-yard passer and rusher in UVA history for a single season. He makes defenses change the way that they play for him and Nate Woody’s squad will have their work cut out for them this weekend.

Georgia Tech LB Brant Mitchell:

Mitchell compiled 7 tackles against Miami including one for a loss. Mitchell has been the quiet leader on the defensive front, and an impact player for the Jackets all season. If the Jackets have any chance of stopping the dual-threat QB of Perkins or the rushing game of UVA, in general, the defense will have to go as Mitchell goes. Look for him to have a big day defensively.
