Georgia Tech Football: Players of the game from Jackets 45-21 loss to UGA
This year’s version of “Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate” didn’t go to plan for the Yellow Jackets but these Yellow Jackets efforts against the Bulldogs are notable.
Offense: AB Qua Searcy, AB Clinton Lynch, WR Brad Stewart
It’s not just one player of the game for the Jackets offense but this trio of seniors for the Yellow Jackets were the best offensive pieces for the Jackets against the Dawgs. Searcy and Lynch both carried the ball four times for 24-yards while Searcy scored a touchdown. Brad Stewart in his final regular season game as a Yellow Jacket had two receptions for 54-yards and brought in a last-minute touchdown himself.
Defense: STGR Jalen Johnson / LB Brant Mitchell
Jalen Johnson led the Yellow Jackets with nine tackles. The senior finishes the regular season with 59 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for a loss, and 1 sack. Brant Mitchell, on the other hand, finished the game with eight tackles including four solo tackles. It was a solid day for the junior linebacker who finishes the regular season with 59 solo tackles himself.
Special Teams: KR Juanyeh Thomas
This kid is special, it’s plain and simple. Tomas for the second straight weekend returned a kickoff for a touchdown. Throughout the seasons’ first 10 games, Thomas looked poised to take a kickoff to the house and it took nearly the whole season but his returns the last two weeks have been incredible. Against Georgia, the Yellow Jackets at the time were needing a big play to get them back into the game and Thomas did just that turning a 14-0 game into a 14-7 game real quick. It was his only kick return of the day as the Bulldogs made sure he wouldn’t return another the rest of the game.
