NEW YORK, NY – MARCH 06: Ben Lammers /

4) The loss of Ben Lammers may have hurt the most

You would think losing a first-round pick like Josh Okogie would be the biggest loss for the Yellow Jackets. While it has been a notable loss and the Yellow Jackets haven’t been able to replace his production, the bigger loss seems to be that of center Ben Lammers. The Jackets so far this season have struggled in replacing “The Laminator”. The biggest reason for this is the fact the Jackets lack a true center on their roster. The tallest player is Sylvester Ogbonda who is 6-foot-10 but he’s listed as a forward. Moses Wright, Abdoulaye Gueye, Evan Cole, and James Banks are other notable sized Yellow Jackets but none of them are off to fantastic starts either.

Out of the Yellow Jackets “big men”, Moses Wright leads the group with 7.2 points per game while James Banks III leads the group with 7.5 rebounds per game. If you add the five players stats up, they come out to 23.9 points and 22.1 rebounds. If those totals were spread out by two or three players, that would be one thing but that it takes five players to get to that level of production should be concerning and is a major reason they are struggling offensively. The Jackets lack size and when they go up against bigger teams, they’ll certainly be in for a world of hurt.
