Game 8: 49-28 win over Virginia Tech

What happened: TaQuon Marshall was a no-go for this Thursday night showdown which allowed Tobias Oliver to step into the limelight and the redshirt freshman surely did shine against the Hokies. Oliver led the Yellow Jackets offensively, rushing for 215-yards and three touchdowns. The Yellow Jackets defense did allow a few big plays but was able to settle down once the offense got rolling.

In retrospect:

The Hokies are 5-6 on the season and have scheduled a game with Marshall for December 1st. A win will get the Hokies to bowl eligibility in what has been a horrible season for the usually strong program. The win in retrospect still looks good though Virginia Tech’s three losses following this game certainly didn’t make it a resume booster for the Jackets.

Conclusion: The Jackets entered this week needing a victory and took advantage of another struggling program.
