Game 9: 38-28 win over North Carolina

What happened:

The Jackets entered the game as a considerable favorite and easily should’ve walked away with a victory. That didn’t happen. The Jackets may have had over 500-yards of offense but their three turnovers in the game almost proved fatal as they allowed the Tar Heels to stay in the game. Ultimately, they would put the game away late in the fourth quarter.

In retrospect:

In retrospect, it was still an ugly win for the Yellow Jackets. After all, North Carolina entered the game with one victory and ended the season with just two. That being said, the Tar Heels played their opponents incredibly close through the final seven weeks of the season with all their losses coming by 10-points or less. It wasn’t a great win but a win was a win for the Yellow Jackets and it got them one step closer to bowl eligibility.

Conclusion: This game could’ve been another bad loss for the Yellow Jackets but the Jackets were able to find a way to stack on track for bowl eligibility. A loss could’ve derailed the season and Paul Johnson’s tenure.
