With the news that Paul Johnson is officially stepping down as Georgia Tech’s head football coach, it’s time to unleash Yellow Jacked Up’s official head coaching big board.

Hello and welcome to Yellow Jacked Up’s official Georgia Tech head football coach big board. On this ever-changing and adapting list, you will find coaches that we believe could be names to know for the head coaching job at Georgia Tech. We DO NOT necessarily believe these coaches could be considered either.

This list of coaches will be updated daily with names that are being brought up in rumors as well as coaches who have reportedly discussed the job with the Georgia Tech athletic administration. You will be able to find below the coaches who have been reported by media members to be in connection with the job.

Not all the coaches on this list will be even seriously considered or even discussed by Georgia Tech’s administration that being said, they are notable names. Please also realize that while this list is approximately 95% serious, some of these names are there for the 5% of fun, that we have allocated to this list.

Currently Reported:

So far only two coaches have been reported as possible candidates for the head coaching job. Both so far by ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg.

Ken Whisenhunt- Offensive Coordinator (Los Angeles Chargers)

This would be an interesting hire, to say the least for Georgia Tech and arguably a questionable one. Whisenhunt, a Georgia Tech alum would certainly bring a ton of experience to the program but it would seem like a failure of helping to rejuvenate the program. Additionally, Whisenhunt hasn’t coached in college since 1995. Either way, according to Rittenberg, Whisenhunt is the top candidate for the job.

Tony Elliot – Offensive Coordinator (Clemson)

Elliot is a highly intriguing name for the open job. Elliot has done a tremendous job with Clemson as their offensive coordinator and is a former running backs coach. With the talent that Tech has stockpiled in the backfield, Elliot could be a great hire for the Yellow Jackets. In my opinion, he should be one of the top men for the job. Also, he has an engineering degree for what it’s worth.
