The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets received a commitment from three-star safety Briton Allen.

The Georgia Tech football program may be without a head coach right now but that did not stop three-star safety Briton Allen from committing to the program on Friday night. The three-star safety out of IMG Academy committed to the program over 16 other programs

. Allen and several other recruits were expected to take official visits to The Flats this weekend but it’s unknown at this time if those visits still occurred.

Allen, originally from Orlando, Florida transferred to the highly touted IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida for his senior season.

Allen is ranked by 247Sports Composite rankings as the 389th best player in the nation as well as the 32nd best-ranked safety and 51st best player in the state of Florida. 247Sports isn’t high on him as other recruiting services, ranking him 871st nationally and 104th in Florida. It is worth noting that ESPN ranks Britton as a four-star recruit and 212th best player in the nation.

If the 6-foot-0, 180-pound Allen can live up to the billing, the Yellow Jackets have surely landed a steal here late in the 2019 recruiting cycle.

The commitment from Allen gives the Yellow Jackets 16 commitments in the 2019 recruiting class as early National Signing Day draws closer on December 19th. While there is still uncertainty regarding if any players may decommit, it should be expected that most, if not all, will sign with the Jackets on the 19th if they don’t decommit prior.

Georgia Tech is currently in the middle of a coaching search with Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt expected to get an interview this weekend. The Jackets will be coached by Paul Johnson through their bowl game as they wait until Sunday to find out where they will be bowling next month.
