Georgia Tech Football Recruiting: Jackets land in top four for LB Jamie Pettway

Three-star inside linebacker Jamie Pettway announced his top four schools on Monday afternoon.

The top four for three-star inside linebacker Jamie Pettway is set as of Monday afternoon as the Albany, Georgia native announced his trimmed list on Monday afternoon.

The top-500 talent according to 247Sports included the Yellow Jackets in his top four as they join Louisville, Missouri, and Tennessee. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound linebacker is coming off an official visit to The Flats and is expected to make his final decision next week on national signing day.

A composite three-star talent, Pettway is considered one of the top 50 players in the state of Georgia and one of the top 30 inside linebackers in the country. 247Sports likes Pettway a little more than other recruiting services, ranking him as a top 300 talent and a top 20 inside linebacker.

With his tremendous size and athleticism, it’s easy to see why so many programs coveted Pettway. The Yellow Jackets will now have a chance to convince the talented linebacker to stay home and play for the Yellow Jackets. According to his 247Sports profile, the Yellow Jackets have yet to use an in-home visit with him. Expect head coach Geoff Collins to make a visit to Pettway sometime over the course of the next few days prior to the beginning of the no-contact period that begins Sunday and runs through January 1st.

Currently, the Yellow Jackets have 16 commitments in the 2019 recruiting class, that is ranked 50th in the country by 247Sports. The crystal ball for Pettway on 247Sports is heavily in favor of Louisville with four of five predictions going towards the Cardinals, the most recent crystal balls were put in on November 28th. We’ll see how the coaching changes at both Georgia Tech and Louisville impact his decision.
