Georgia Tech Football Recruiting: Last Recruiting Weekend Before Early National Signing Day
Early National Signing Day is next Friday and Georgia Tech has several notable targets on campus this weekend.
It’s the last recruiting weekend prior to the Early Signing Period beginning next Wednesday which means teams across the country are looking to add last-minute additions to their 2019 recruiting classes or trying to get into the lead for recruits who will sign in February. The Yellow Jackets and head coach Geoff Collins have several targets on campus this weekend. After scavenging player profiles and visitor lists available to the public. These are the recruits on campus this weekend for the Jackets.
CB Caleb Blake
Blake is unranked by 247Sports but is a three-star recruit according to Rivals. Blake has eight scholarship offers including Louisville and North Carolina State. 247Sports has him officially visiting this weekend. There’s not much public information out there on Blake but with four secondary commitments already secured, the Yellow Jackets may be looking for one last commitment. Could it come in the form of Caleb Blake?
WR Ahmarean Brown
The recent offered wide receiver out of Tampa, Florida began his official visit to The Flats on Thursday according to 247Sports. Starting on Thursday, certainly allowed him to gain some more one on one time with Coach Geoff Collins than if he started it on Friday. Brown is currently uncommitted and a strong visit to The Flats could put the Yellow Jackets as the top threat to land him. Both Iowa State and Minnesota are also in on the three-star.
LB Kevon Glenn
Glenn is expected to make it to The Flats sometime on Friday. This week Glenn was offered by Florida State which certainly has shaken up his recruitment, the Yellow Jackets are in a good position but Florida State has become the quick favorite for Glenn according to his 247Sports crystal ball.
RB Jamious Griffin
According to his Rivals page, Griffin is making a visit to Tech this weekend. The North Carolina State commitment does have a brother (Quon Griffin) on the team. Rivals ranks Griffin as a top-25 running back in the country and a top-40 player in the state of Georgia. Griffin would be a huge addition to the Jackets recruiting class if they can land the Rome, Georgia prospect.
DE Anthony Johnson
Johnson is on 247Sports’s list of visitors for Georgia Tech this weekend as the Ohio native is expected on Saturday. Johnson has nine scholarship offers according to his profile and is being recruited by Minnesota and Syracuse in addition to the Jackets. Johnson isn’t highly ranked by any of the recruiting services and wasn’t offered by Geoff Collins while at Temple. Will the Jackets take a commitment from Johnson at this time? It’s hard to say.
DE Sylvain Yondjouen
This Belgium prospect is currently committed to Arizona but he’s making an official visit to The Flats according to 247Sports. While he is unranked in 247Sports composite rankings, he is ranked by 247Sports as a high three-star prospect with an 89 rating. Yondjouen has only been committed to Arizona for a few weeks but head coach Geoff Collins who offered him while at Temple could extend an offer to him this weekend if all goes well. Could the Jackets flip him away from the Wildcats?
Overall, the Yellow Jackets hold 17 commitments in the 2019 recruiting class that is ranked 48th in the country by 247Sports.
