Georgia Tech Football Recruiting: Jackets lose top LB commitment in Ahdarrious Gee
Georgia Tech’s 2019 recruiting class lost one of their commitments on Tuesday night in linebacker Ahdarrious Gee.
Georgia Tech’s 2019 recruiting class took a hit on Tuesday night when top linebacker commitment Ahdarrious Gee announced that he was decommitting from the program citing the coaching changes as the major reason for his decommitment.
Gee who has been courted by other programs in the last few weeks has announced he will be signing tomorrow with the program of his choice. But we do know that the team will not be the Yellow Jackets. Gee’s primary recruiter according to 247Sports was linebackers coach Andy McCollum who Geoff Collins chose not to retain for next season. A decommitment stemming from the coaching changes isn’t too shocking, it was bound to happen with a least one commitment.
Prospects build strong relationships with their primary recruiters and position coaches and for Gee, McCollum ended up being both.

With the decommitment, the Yellow Jackets now have just one linebacker commitment in the 2019 recruiting class entering Wednesday’s Early National Signing Day period. That other linebacker is Tennessee native Chico Bennett Jr. The Jackets do have one linebacker target set to announce tomorrow as well in Jamie Pettway. However, Pettway is considered a slight Louisville lean right now with Missouri not too far behind the Cardinals.
Entering Wednesday, the Yellow Jackets will now have 17 commitments in their 2019 recruiting class. On Wednesday morning, we’ll post a signing day preview of what you should expect to happen on Wednesday. Geoff Collins and his then established coaching staff will begin recruiting after the New Year in preparation of filling out the remaining available scholarships in time for February’s National Signing Day on February 6th.
