The final gameday of the 2018 season is finally here as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets prepare to take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the Quick Lane Bowl.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets had to scrap and claw their way to bowl eligibility this season and they’ll get the reward for doing so at 5:15 on Wednesday evening. The Jackets have a date with the 6-6 Minnesota Golden Gophers in the Quick Lane Bowl. While it’s not the bowl game that many expected or wanted but either way, the Jackets will be ready to go when toe meets leather.

The Jackets will bring their deadly triple-option rushing attack to a bowl game one more time as the game also marks the end of the Paul Johnson era. Johnson brought stability and success to the program and will certainly be hard for Geoff Collins to match.

The Jackets rushing attack has been stellar all season and has been able to run the ball with ease against weaker rush defenses. Minnesota on the other hand this year has had a Jekyll-and-Hyde rush defense. There have been times the Gophers have been able to stop their oppositions ground game and there have been times they’ve simply not been able to stop anything. The Jackets hope they face the latter on Wednesday night. If Minnesota can’t stop the Jackets running game, this one could get out of hand in favor of the Yellow Jackets.

The Jackets defense, on the other hand, will have to be aware of Minnesota’s passing attack. While it’s by no means a deadly passing attack, the Gophers do have enough talent to expose any weaknesses or holes the Yellow Jackets may show through the course of the game. Wide receiver Tyler Johnson is a key wide receiver to watch as he’s racked up over 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns. He’ll be looking to break Minnesota history as well during the game.

Lead Expert Prediction:

Personally, I think the Yellow Jackets rushing attack will be tough for Minnesota to stop on Wednesday evening.TaQuon Marshall could have a pretty big day and I expect Paul Johnson to be as aggressive as he can be as well. Johnson and the Jackets know the significance of the game and for that reason alone, I think the Yellow Jackets win this one.
