Three Georgia Tech baseball players were named preseason All-ACC members by Perfect Game.

Heading into the 2019 season, there are several names on Georgia Tech baseball’s roster that fans should familiarize themselves with. Three of those names are Tristin English, Chase Murray, and Connor Thomas. On Tuesday, those three were named to Perfect Game’s Preaseason All-ACC team.

The Yellow Jackets are coming off an up-and-down 2018 season and will have to deal with the departure of former second overall pick and now top MLB catching prospect, Joey Bart. That being said, English, Murray, and Thomas will look to lessen the impact it leaves on the team. You can view the complete Preseason All-ACC team by Perfect Game, here.

UTIL Tristin English:

English was named to the All-ACC preseason team as a utility player. The 2018 All-ACC First Team member is coming off a strong season that saw him hit .279 with 6 home runs and 60 RBI over the course of 54 games while also presenting a 4.11 ERA over the course of 16 appearances and 57 innings pitched.

The Jackets in 2019 will expect English to continue to improve on his numbers at the plate while also becoming one of their top pitching options whether it be as a starter, a reliever, or a combination of both.

OF Chase Murray:

Arguably Georgia Tech’s purest hitter, Murray last season hit .343 to go along with 6 home runs, 11 doubles, and 3 triples. He also knocked in 39 runners through his 54 games played. Murray is one of the best outfielders not just for Georgia Tech but in the ACC and his Preseason All-ACC selection shows just that. Murray should pick up where he left on in 2018 and should be a tremendous asset at the top of the order for the Jackets.

SP Connor Thomas:

Without a doubt, Georgia Tech’s best pitcher on staff, Thomas was selected to the Preseason All-ACC team after putting off great numbers in 2018 which earned him All-ACC honors a season ago. Thomas over 16 games and 15 starts collected a 7-4 record and a 3.34 ERA. He struck out 106 batters and walked just 10 over 97.0 innings pitched. This season, Thomas should be the Jackets No.1 starter but it remains to be seen if head coach Danny Hall will tab Xzavion Curry with that honor. Either way, Thomas is set up to have a major season in 2019 for the Yellow Jackets.

ACC Predictions:

On top of giving their Preseason All-ACC team, Perfect Game also predicted what the ACC standings will look like at the end of the season. For the Yellow Jackets, Perfect Game is predicting a winning season with a record of 31-27 overall but a losing record in conference play at 14-16. That would mean the Yellow Jackets are looking at a 17-11 non-conference record. The 31-27 overall record and 14-16 conference record would put the Yellow Jackets in third place in the ACC Coastal only behind North Carolina and Duke.
