Former four-star wide receiver and Suwanee, Georgia native Josh Imatorbhebhe has hit the transfer portal and is looking for a new home.

One of Georgia’s top receivers in the 2016 recruiting class has announced that he is transferring away from Southern California after three seasons with the Trojans. Former four-star receiver Josh Imatorbhebhe made that very announcement on Tuesday.

Imatorbhebhe has seen very little time over his three seasons in Los Angeles. Over his two seasons, his college football reference page has him slated at just two games played, both coming in 2017. In those two games, he had a pair of receptions for 11-yards.

It is surely a disappointing first three years for the Nigerian born wide-receiver after being so highly recruited out of high school. 247Sports’s composite rankings had Imatorbhebhe ranked as the 158th best player nationally, the 29th best wide receiver in the country, and the 17th best player in the state of Georgia coming out of high school.

Over the course of his original recruitment, he received 31 scholarship offers with USC, Michigan, Oregon, and Alabama among his top choices.

At 6-foot-2 and roughly 215-pounds, Imatorbhebhe has a nice frame and compliments that frame with solid speed. Most importantly, his high school tape showed a wide receiver who could be reliable in catching the football.

Now, the question is “Would the Yellow Jackets be interested in Imatorbhebhe?”. At this point, we honestly believe the Jackets will be interested in almost every notable grad transfer and as they should be. That being said, Imatorbhebhe makes a lot of sense for the Jackets.

While they have recruited wide receiver heavily in the 2019 recruiting class, bringing in a veteran like Imatorbhebhe would never hurt and would most likely be an immediate starter once he arrived on The Flats. With two years of eligibility left, Imatorbhebhe could easily turn into the Jackets top receiving threat over the next two years.

Overall, Imatorbhebhe’s best option appears to be to transfer to a Power 5 school who doesn’t have a necessary No.1 or No.2 wide receiver entering next season. Most places that will be hard to find but at Tech however you can argue that they don’t have a true No.1 or No.2 wideout on the roster right now. Yes, it’s a program with a quality amount of wideouts on the roster but no real No.1 wide receiver, which means he will most likely see ample playing time immediately on The Flats. Some may argue Jalen Camp is the No.1 guy, but Camp in our minds has truly not had enough passes thrown his way in game situations to find out if he’s a consistent receiver. Either way, Georgia Tech and Imatorbhebhe makes a lot of sense.

Additionally, when you add in the factor it’s close to where he grew up (even more so if his family still lives in the area), the possible match between the wide receiver and the program makes even more sense. This isn’t even without mentioning the opportunity to receive a world-class education at Georgia Tech.

Of course, all of this right now is just merely speculation and it could take a while to play out but we would be more shocked than not if the Jackets at least don’t kick the tires on Imatorbhebhe and try to get him on campus for a visit.
