Georgia Tech football’s top defensive line target left on their board, Michael Lockhart has announced his top three for his decision to come on next Wednesday.

Georgia Tech will officially be in the race to land the commitment from three-star defensive line prospect Michael Lockhart next Wednesday. On late Friday morning, the Alabama native announced his top three via Twitter.

Those top three programs are the three programs that everyone expected to be in the race coming down to Wednesday; Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, and North Carolina. Earlier this week, we updated readers on Lockhart’s recruitment. At that time, we expected Lockhart to sign with Mississippi State. However, it appears the Jackets have pulled themselves out in front and are now the leaders to land Lockhart.

On 247Sports, all four crystal ball picks for Lockhart are going towards the Yellow Jackets. Each of those four picks was made on Thursday including picks from Steve Wiltfong (247Sports’s Director of Football Recruiting), two Mississippi State insiders. Likewise, on Rivals, their futurecast (predictions from insiders) has the Yellow Jackets at 80%.

Lockhart is ranked by both 247Sports and Rivals as a three-star recruit but where he ranks as a defensive end does differ. Rivals ranks Lockart as a top-50 defensive end prospect while 247Sports ranks him in the 75-100 range nationally.

A former UAB commitment, Lockhart’s recruitment really took off over the last month following the early signing period. Over the past month, he’s taken official visits to North Carolina, Mississippi State, and Georgia Tech. It appears he is likely to stay at home this weekend and will ponder his decision.

Tech fans will now have to sit back and wait for Lockhart to make his decision which is expected to be made next Wednesday during National Signing Day.
