Georgia Tech Football: Spring game to be played on April 26
On Wednesday morning, Georgia Tech head football coach Geoff Collins announced that the 2019 Spring Game will be played on Friday, April 26th.
It’s been a busy Wednesday morning for Georgia Tech football as the second National Signing Day has begun. The Jackets on Wednesday morning signed three recruits as of 11:15 a.m in Nazir Burnett, Cornelius Evans, and Jamious Griffin. They also signed WR Maquez Ezzard, a transfer from Miami.
That being said, during his 11 a.m press conference on Wednesday morning, Georgia Tech head football coach Geoff Collins announced that the Jackets annual spring game will be played on Friday, April 26. It will be the first spring game of the Geoff Collins era.
While the decision to play the game on a Friday may not be the most popular choice, Collins gave good reasoning to play the game on Friday. As you can read in the tweet above, Collins wanted to play the spring game under the lights of Bobby Dodd Stadium, calling it one of the best settings in all of college football especially with the backdrop of the Atlanta skyline.
Collins and his coaching staff will without a doubt look to capitalize on the setting and backdrop when it comes to recruiting. That being said, no official time for the spring has been announced nor has it been announced if the game will be televised or streamed anywhere online.
Last year, the Jackets’ spring game was on Friday, April 21 and was not televised nor streamed online. We’ll be sure to update you, our readers, once more information comes out regarding the 2019 spring game. That being said, the day isn’t over for the Yellow Jackets as they are expected to land three-star defensive lineman Michael Lockhart.
