The Georgia Tech football program looks to be in prime position to land one of their top-targets, Buford (GA) corner Jalen Huff.

On Tuesday night, in-state class of 2020 cornerback and Buford native Jalen Huff called off his long-time commitment to the Oklahoma Sooners. He posted his decommitment via Twitter late Tuesday night.

With the commitment, the Jackets appear to have moved into prime position to land the three-star cornerback who’s ranked as a top-50 cornerback nationally by 247Sports’s composite rankings. He’s also ranked as a top-650 player nationally, and a top-60 player in the Peach State.

The 6-foot-0 and 176-pound corner has put together a strong offer list thus far as well with 32 scholarship offers according to his 247Sports profile. Amongst the offers are Auburn, Kentucky, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Oregon, and Tennessee.

For a while now, reports have had Huff trending towards the Jackets including a few crystal balls over the last few weeks including one from 247Sports’s Director of Football Recruiting, Steve Wiltfong. Personally, when Wiltfong feels strongly about something and puts in a Crystal Ball, I consider it a pretty strong indicator, the man rarely misses.

That being said, Georgia Tech isn’t in the clear just yet it seems for Huff. It appears that there is one additional notable team that will look to make a push for the Buford product. That program is the Notre Dame Fighting Irish who offered Huff last month and told Notre Dame’s 247Sports’s writer Tom Loy that the offer “means a lot”. Expect Huff to make a trip to South Bend before making any more college decisions.

Huff also told Loy that he is hoping to visit Mississippi State and Vanderbilt which means the Bulldogs and Commodores are at least worth keeping an eye on at this point for Huff. Though the Jackets biggest competition surely seems to be Notre Dame.

Overall, the Jackets are in a great position for Huff but still have to work hard to earn his commitment. With his decommitment, it won’t be surprising to see Huff gain a few more offers and if this goes into the summer, he could be a recruit that could see his stock rise. Either way, there’s no timetable yet for Huff to make his next commitment.
