The Georgia Tech football team on Sunday night received good news on what was a difficult day as four-star cornerback Miles Brooks committed to the Jackets.

Georgia Tech’s received one of it’s best commitment since 2007on Sunday night, four-star cornerback Miles Brooks out of Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville, Florida committed to the program. Brooks, is considered a top-200 recruit nationally in 247Sports’s composite rankings as well as a top-15 cornerback in the country. Prior to his commitment, he was considered to be either an Ohio State or Virginia Tech lean according to 247Sports’s crystal ball.

If Brook’s top-200 status in 247Sports’s composite ratings are not satisfying enough, Rivals ranks Brooks as a top-80 prospect nationally and a top-10 corner in the country. Either way, the Jackets have landed one of their best recruits of the ranking era on Sunday night. According to 247Sports’s all-time commitment rankings for the Yellow Jackets, Brooks is the 10th best player since 2000 to commit to the program and the best player since Justin Thomas committed to the Jackets for the Class of 2012.

Brooks a highly recruited corner had 21 scholarship offers according to 247Sports page,  including Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia.

At 6-foot-2 and 183-pounds has good size for a corner and probably will add some weight in the upcoming year. A look at his highlight tape above shows a cornerback who has good ball instincts and timing when it comes to finding the ball and trying to break up passes. While it’s hard to tell his exact speed, he appears to have some quality speed as well, allowing him to excel in press coverage. He also isn’t afraid to drop the shoulder and deliver big hits while also appearing to have a set of rather soft hands, allowing him to come down with a few interceptions here and then.

Overall, it will be interesting to see how Brooks develops heading into his senior year. Currently, Brooks has not announced or decided if he will be an early enrollee for the Yellow Jackets. Either way, Brooks at this point is the center gem of the 2020 recruiting class for the Yellow Jackets.

The Jackets 2020 recruiting class now features four commitments and is rated as the 25th best class nationally and the fifth best in the ACC. Joining Brooks is WR Ryan King, QB Tucker Gleason, and TE Billy Ward.
