It took longer than it should have but the Georgia Tech baseball team finally cracked the top-25 on Monday morning.

The Georgia Tech baseball program is officially a top-25 program in college baseball as D1Baseball.com ranked the Yellow Jackets as the No.17 team in the country after going 3-1 this past week and improving their record to 22-10 overall and 9-6 in conference play. Danny Hall has the Yellow Jackets playing as one of the hottest teams in the country and it’s finally beginning to pay off.

The Jackets are coming off a tremendous week that saw them take down two top-25 teams in Auburn and North Carolina, only dropping their series opener to North Carolina.

The Jackets have been dominant throughout the last month of the season and it’s quite amazing it took them this long to break the top-25 despite continuously upsetting other top-25 programs including UGA. The Jackets took down UGA 10-3 two weeks ago and will look to hand out another beat down on Tuesday in Athens.

The Jackets No.17 ranking matches up rather well with their RPI ranking as they’re ranked No.14 in the RPI according to Warren Nolan. The Jackets are off to a 22-10 record despite having the seventh strongest overall strength of schedule and the 25th strongest non-conference strength of schedule.

With their series victory over the Tar Heels this past weekend, the Jackets also have made themselves the sole ACC Coastal leaders with a game advantage over the Tar Heels and the Virginia Cavaliers. Of course, the Jackets have tiebreakers over both programs if it were to come down to tiebreakers.

Additionally, Baseball America has placed the Yellow Jackets at No.18 in their top-25 rankings. The weekly coaches poll has yet to be released but it would be shocking if the Jackets weren’t ranked after this past week after knocking on the door in last week’s rankings.
