Georgia Tech Baseball: Jackets still sit just outside top-10
The Georgia Tech baseball team had another successful week but couldn’t crack the top-10.
Georgia Tech baseball is still one of the top-15 teams in the nation after their 3-1 that saw them take down Auburn and take two of three from Virginia Tech. Here’s where Georgia Tech sits in multiple rankings as of Monday morning.
D1Baseball.com:
D1 Baseball has the Yellow Jackets ranked at No.11, making them the second highest ranked ACC team in the country only behind Louisville (No.7).
Baseball America:
The popular baseball magazine has the Yellow Jackets ranked 12th in their latest rankings, moving up one spot from their position last week at No.13. BA also noted that the Yellow Jackets are moving ever close to securing a spot in this year’s NCAA Tournament.
Coaches Poll:
The coaches poll this week has yet to be announced but once it is announced, we will post the Jackets updated ranking here. Last week, the Yellow Jackets were ranked at No.16. They’ve made considerable jumps each of the last three weeks, so we’ll see if they can make another notable jump this week.
RPI:
It’s not an official ranking but it’s still pretty important. The RPI entering this agree agrees with D1Baaseball’s ranking and has the Yellow Jackets at the No.11 spot.
The Jackets will look for another huge week this week as they take on a top-5 Georgia team at SunTrust Park before entering a huge weekend series against Clemson. The Tigers have struggled of late losing seven straight games.
Danny Hall’s Jackets as mentioned above are moving closer to a postseason birth as they look to make their first NCAA Tournament since 2016 when they lost in the Gainesville Regional. Additionally, the Jackets still have a chance at achieving a 40-win season. Their last 40-win season came in 2011 when they won 42 games.
