It’s been a while since we’ve done a Georgia Tech football recruiting roundup here at Yellow Jacked Up and there’s no better week to do one than leading up to the Georgia Tech spring game on Friday!

Where the class stands:

Georgia Tech this past weekend landed a commitment from linebacker Jared Behrens. Behrens was originally a 2021 prospect but has reclassified to the 2020 recruiting class. Behrens finally got himself a rating on Monday, as 247Sports’s composite rankings rank him as a low three-star recruit. You can read more on his commitment here. Additionally, Georgia Tech received another commitment on Monday afternoon though that commit has yet to come public. We do have a pretty general idea of who it is, however.

The Jackets all in all have seven commitments in the 2020 recruiting class and have earned three this month. All seven commitments have come since the beginning of March.

Jayson Jones planning OV to Tech:

Georgia Tech hasn’t been afraid to go up against the powerhouse programs in recruiting so far in the Geoff Collins era and so far it’s paying off pretty well. On Saturday, Alabama commitment Jayson Jones, a four-star defensive tackle announced the five programs he’ll be taking official visits to in the upcoming months.

Among those five teams was the Yellow Jackets, as they join Alabama, Florida, Oregon, and Michigan. Jones is currently ranked by 247Sports as the sixth-best defensive tackle in the 2020 recruiting class and the 80th best player in the nation per their composite rankings. Right now, he’s the Crimson Tide’s second-best recruit.

RIght now, it would be safe to say the Jackets still have a hill to climb for Jones. As the Alabama native has been committed to the Tide since last July. He so far has two official visits locked in with trips to Michigan (Nov.30) and Florida (Oct.5) set.

Class Ranking Update:

Georgia Tech’s 2020 recruiting class currently sits at a No.17 in 247Sports’s composite team rankings, making them the sixth highest ranked team in the ACC. They also have the fewest commitments of those top 6 ACC teams with seven. Rivals, on the other hand, have the Yellow Jackets ranked 21st in their team rankings.
