The Georgia Tech softball program is jockeying for position in the ACC Tournament as they head into May.

The Georgia Tech softball team is entering May and is jockeying for position in this year’s ACC tournament. Currently, the Jackets sit in the third spot in the ACC Coastal and are currently the sixth seed in the ACC tournament with an 11-10 record in conference play and 30-23 overall record.

Right now, the Jackets are on a three-game winning streak after losing their four previous games. It continues a month of what is streaky play by the Yellow Jackets  Since the start of the month, the Jackets have lost three, won four, lost four, and now won three. Overall, they’ve collected a 8-7 record in the month of April.

In May, the Jackets will play six regular-season games as they have their final series of the season starting on Friday at Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish are second in the Atlantic Division with a record of  15-6 in conference play and 32-15 overall this season. It will surely be a tough series for the Jackets.

The good news for the Yellow Jackets, however, is that they have already improved on their record from last year, eclipsing their 28-26 record. It’s been a strong second season at the helm for head coach Aileen Morales, to say the least.

Statistically, for the Yellow Jackets, Breanna Roper continues to be a force at the plate, hitting .381 on the season. She also ranks in the top-20 in hits across the nation with 69 so far this season. Three other Yellow Jackets are hitting above .300 for the season. On the mound, the Jackets are led by Morgan Bruce who has appeared in 47 games for the Yellow Jackets, she has a 16-12 record this season with a 3.73 ERA.

Overall, this last weekend of play in the regular season for the Jackets should be exciting and full of action.
