The Georgia Tech baseball program will enter the ACC Tournament as the sixth ranked team in the country.

The newest rankings for college baseball are out and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets baseball program is ranked as the sixth best team in the country according to D1Baseball.com.

The Jackets were ranked No.6 last week and went 3-1 this past week with a win over Mercer and two wins over Pittsburgh. The Jackets lost their senior day and series finale to Pittsburgh on Saturday 9-3 but were still able to clinch the ACC Coastal Division over the weekend.

The Jackets are the No.2 seed in the ACC Tournament and will look for a tournament championship starting with a matchup against Notre Dame on Wednesday. They’ll then take on Duke on Thursday in the second game of their “group play”.

Also in the D1Baseball.com rankings from the ACC are Louisville (No.9), NC State (No.15) , Miami (No.17) and North Carolina (No.23).

Going into the tournament, the Jackets are one of the hottest teams in the country, winning ten straight weekend series overall and nine straight ACC series. While they only got one sweep this season, the Jackets still dominated in much on conference play and in the process showed they were one of the countries top programs.

If the Jackets have a strong ACC Tournament, they should be a potential favorite to land a regional for this year’s NCAA Tournament. That being said, anything but a top three finish in the ACC Tournament should be considered a disappointment for the Jackets. The one thing for sure is, if Danny Hall was on the hot seat entering this year, he is surely safe from any type of firing for a while. He once again showed this year why he’s one of the countries best coaches.
