The Georgia Tech football program will receive an official visit from highly touted offensive lineman Tate Johnson.

Georgia Tech’s football program will receive an official visit this upcoming weekend from one of their top targets. Hoganville, Georgia offensive guard Tate Johnson announced on Monday that he will be taking an official visit to The Flats this upcoming weekend. The Jackets will also be receiving an official visit from wide receiver Bryce Gowdy this upcoming Memorial Day weekend, marking a busy weekend for Geoff Collins and company.

Johnson, a three-star offensive lineman is one of the highest regarded linemen in the country and has received a total of 23 scholarship offers from across the country. It’s been rumored that he has been close to making a decision for quite some time now but no decision has yet to be made. Perhaps him taking an official visit to The Flats means he’s one step closer to doing so.

Johnson is ranked by 247Sports’s composite rankings as a top-430 player in the country, top-25 offensive guard, and top-50 player in the state of Georgia. Johnson’s lead recruiter from the Yellow Jackets is offensive line coach Brent Key.

The Jackets are considered one of three programs to be at the top for Johnson joining Auburn and Florida State. Right now, Florida State is considered the favorite to land Johnson according to 247Sports’s crystal ball.

Georgia Tech’s 2020 recruiting class right now features 12 commitments and is ranked by 247Sports’s as the nation’s 13th best recruiting class. They have zero offensive guard commitments so far this cycle and had none last cycle either. Johnson would be a great way to start with offensive guard commitments.
