Next up in our top five most exciting Georgia Tech freshman is European import, defensive end Sylvian Yondjouen.

When it comes to international recruits, it’s hard to judge their actual talent and what they bring to the table. That being said, when it comes to international recruits, it’s all about their potential.

With that, former three-star recruit and Belgium native Sylvian Yondjouen is a 6-foot-4, 250-pound defensive end oozing with raw and untapped potential. A huge reason why the Georgia Tech coaching staff made the European a huge target down the stretch last cycle leading up to the early signing period.

The good news is, while Yondjouen doesn’t have a ton of experience, he has been on campus now since January, as an early enrollee. Getting those extra six months with the program especially their strength and conditioning staff will be huge in both his short-term and long-term development.

This spring, Yondjouen had the opportunity to get his first taste of college football and it seemed to go rather well for the Belgium native not only adjusting to college football but new surrounding, lifestyle, etc. a lot to throw at anyone but especially someone just entering college.

So what makes the Belgium native so special? Well, according to the AJC’s Ken Suguria back in January, Yondjouen has a 40-yard dash time of 4.6. An absolute stunning speed for someone the size of Yondjouen. In that same article linked above, Yondjouen’s “trainer” in Europe, former college football player Brandon Collier, he envisions Yondjouen as an “instant impact” type player. Which if true, will be massive for Georgia Tech’s defense in 2019.

With, Yondjouen it’s important to remember that he’s not found to put it all together at first. When he does play this upcoming season, he’s going to be mostly relying on his freak athleticism. But once he begins to put more of the football aspect of it together, the potential for him is through the roof.

For the most part, he’s an exciting freshman because of his freak athleticism and instant impact possibilities. On the other hand, the potential for him to develop into an elite EDGE rusher for the Yellow Jackets has to be salivating to both the Georgia Tech coaching staff and fans alike.
