In an exciting announcement on Tuesday, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Kentucky Wildcats have scheduled a home-and-home series beginning this upcoming season.

The Georgia Tech basketball program announced on Tuesday when they announced a home-and-home series  with the Kentucky Wildcats. The Jackets will go to Rupp Arena in Lexington on Dec. 14th and next season the Wildcats will come to State Farm Arena for a “Holiday Hoopsgiving” event on Nov. 27th, 2020.

Kentucky is obviously one of the nation’s premier programs and is always atop the recruiting rankings in the John Calipari era. That being said, the Wildcats have won just a single national championship in the Calipari. Overall, the Wildcats have won eight total National Titles with the most recent coming in 2012. Kentucky has recently been one of the top tier teams in the country under head coach John Calipari.

With this announcement, Georgia Tech has scheduled three SEC opponents for non-conference play in 2019 including Arkansas on November 25th at McCamish, and UGA on November 20th in Athens.

Tech will also play Nebraska December 4th as part of the Big 10/ACC Classic, Ball State on Dec. 18th, and Boise State in Hawaii for the first round of the Diamond Head Classic which takes place from December 22nd to December 25th.

The matchup between the two programs will be he first since 2000 when the Jackets grabbed an 86-84 win over the Wildcats at then Phillips Arena.

This series is another step in the ladder for building a tournament resume for the Yellow Jackets who are trying to make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2010. While it isn’t a true home game for the Jackets, it provides a reason for Tech fans to come in droves to see the Jackets take on one of te country’s best programs.
