Kickoff is slowly getting closer and closer as there are just 23 days left until toe meets leather and today we highlight walk-on Austin Nash.

Grayson (GA) native Austin Nash is one of Georgia Tech’s much needed but little appreciated walk-ons. The 5-foot-10, 177-pound running back came to The Flats as part of the recruiting class of 2017 after a distinguished high school career with the Grayson Rams. According to his official Georgia Tech football profile, he had over 1,000 receiving yards as a senior for the Rams. A strong athlete, Nash also played baseball for two years for the Rams in high school.

Over his first two years on The Flats, Nash has served in a scout team role and has yet to see any time on the field over those two seasons. In 2019, the redshirt sophomore probably won’t see the field again but will once again be a huge part of the Jackets week-to-week preparation.

In high school, Nash played more wide receiver than anything and could see a move to the wideout position in 2019 or the near future. The Jackets could certainly use depth on the offensive side of the ball and while it would take a drastic amount of injuries or other issues to get to Nash’s spot on the roster, he would surely provide some sort of depth for the Jackets by a numbers standpoint.

The Yellow Jackets will travel to Clemson on August 29th to kick off their 2019 season against the defending national champions. The Jackets will look to start their season off with a huge upset victory over the Tigers in Geoff Collins’ Georgia Tech debut.
