Georgia Tech landed commitment No.21 of the 2020 recruiting class on Saturday when three-star wide receiver Avery Boyd committed to the Jackets.

Three-star wide receiver and Tallahassee, Florida native Avery Boyd has decided to end his recruitment by committing to the Georgia Tech football program on Saturday afternoon. Boyd, a 6-foot-2, 198-pound wide receiver is the 21st commitment of the Jackets 2020 recruiting class. He is unranked on 247Sports but is ranked on Rivals, as a three-star prospect with a 5.5 rating. He joins Grayson wide receiver Ryan King and Deerfield Beach (FL) wide receiver Bryce Gowdy as the Jackets receivers in the 2020 recruiting class.

According to Rivals, Boyd had eight total scholarship offers including the Yellow Jackets with other programs offering him including Mississippi, South Florida, and UCF. It’s certainly not a stacked recruiting list that will make his commitment pop to some fans but it is a solid list of offers.

Boyd has made a few visits to The Flats prior to his commitment, taking visits both last month as well as one in May. Both visits helped the Yellow Jackets stick apart from other programs and put the Yellow Jackets in front for a commitment from Boyd.

Boyd is still very much a raw prospect, the Tallahassee native is entering just his second year of high school football which is a major reason for his lack of offers at this point in time. With a solid senior season, Boyd could very well end up gathering more scholarship offers this fall.

On the field, the Yellow Jackets will kick off their 2019 season on August 29th when they take on the defending national champions, the Clemson Tigers. The game kicks off at 8:00 pm and can be seen on the ACC Network.
