Georgia Tech Football: Six takeaways from Jackets 52-14 loss to Clemson
6) James Graham was the best quarterback for Georgia Tech on Thursday night
Throughout the game, Georgia Tech played three quarterbacks against the Tigers. Tobias Oliver surprisingly got the start, Lucas Johnson took several snaps but James Graham, the last quarterback to come into the game was by far the best.
This past offseason, Graham was considered a dark horse in the quarterback competition. The Fitzgerald, Georgia native has the athleticism and arm strength to be a starting quarterback in the ACC but there were questions about his accuracy. On Thursday, he may have been able to answer some of those questions, though it was against Clemson’s backups mostly. Either way, on the evening, Graham completed four of seven passing attempts for 72-yards and one touchdown.
His lone touchdown pass was an absolute beautiful throw, that landed right in Ahmarean Brown’s breadbasket. That wasn’t Graham’s only strong throw of the evening two as he had one or two more that really made you take notice of his talent. There’s a lot there potential wise with Graham, if he could put it all together, the Jackets may have found their quarterback going forward. It will be interesting to see how Geoff Collins’ and the offensive coaching staff handle the quarterback situation for next week.
The Jackets will now have a few extra days to prepare for the USF Bulls who come to The Flats next Saturday.
