Georgia Tech will look to take down USF in revenge of their 49-38 loss last season but will also be looking for their first win of the 2019 season.

USF Bulls (0-1) at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (0-1)

Bobby Dodd Stadium (Atlanta, GA) – 2:00 pm – Weather

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will take the field for the first time at Boby Dodd Stadium in 2019 on Saturday afternoon. The game will also mark the first official home game of the Geoff Collins era’ that promises to breath life and excitement into a program that may have been getting a bit stale at the end of the Paul Johnson era.

The Bulls on Saturday will take the road for the first time in 2019 as they look for their first win in 2019. The Bulls are now in their third season under former Louisville and Texas head coach Charlie Strong. The Bulls started off the Charlie Strong era with a 17-2 record but since then have lost seven straight games dating back to their last six games last season.

What they did last week:

Georgia Tech (0-1, 0-1): 52-13 loss to Clemson

Last week, the Jackets started their season off against th defending national champions and the game went as well as expected. The Jackets really didn’t stand a chance against the Tigers and there were several mistakes that made the score look worse than it actually was. The offense struggled for the most part but the offensive line held up rather well, which was unexpected. On defense, the secondary looked great but the rush defense still has work to do.

USF (0-1, 0-0): 49-0 loss to Wisconsin

More from Football

After losing each of their last six games last season, the Bulls got their 2019 season off to a rough start in week one with a 49-0 loss to Wisconsin. The Bulls struggled on both sides of the ball especially offensive, gaining under 200-yards of offense. The defense looked much better either and was carved up on the ground by Wisconsin Heisman contender Jonathan Taylor.

 Odds: Georgia Tech (-6.5)

The Jackets were 6.5-point favorites on Friday night before the game. In week one, they failed to cover the spread against Clemson. In week two, we would tend to believe the Jackets will have a better chance of covering the spread against a struggling USF program. As mentioned before, the Bulls have lost each of their last seven games and have been one of =the worst teams offensively during that stretch that dates back to last season. If one thing is for sure, this isn’t the same team that defeated the Jackets in week two last season.

Predictions:

Our staff has our predictions in for this week’s game and the good news for the Jackets, is that we all are predicting a Tech victory on Saturday. The reason for that consensus? While the Yellow Jackets still have a ways to go in being ready for some of the better teams on their schedule, they got off to a decent start in some areas last week that should create some confidence.

Lee Cagle: Georgia Tech 38 – USF 21

The offense will right itself after scoring just 14 points last week against the Clemson Tigers. Also think the defense will show out against the struggling Bulls.

Matthew Summers: Georgia Tech 38 – USF 10

I’m going with the Jackets to open up their home schedule with a big win over USF. The USF offense has struggled mightily since last season and the Jackets secondary should keep the BUlls in check through the air. If the run defense can step it up, this won’t be a close game.

Bronston Tankersly: Georgia Tech 38 – USF 21

The Jackets offense comes alive in front of the home fans at Bobby Dodd and Geoff Collins’ first home game as head coach is a huge success.

Dylan Callaghan-Croley: Georgia Tech 31 – USF 23

I’m picking the Jackets in a close game, I think the Jackets will have a nice game offensively while the defense shines at times as well. I think the Jackets secondary has another strong game while the run defense has it’s struggles at times.
