In continuation of their honoring of fallen teammate Brandon Adams, defensive end Kelton Dawson will wear Adam’s No.90 jersey on Saturday afternoon against North Carolina.

Redshirt sophomore defensive end Kelton Dawson will have the honor on Saturday afternoon to wear Brandon Adams’ No.90 jersey. The Jackets this year have honored Adams weekly by giving one player each week the opportunity to wear Adams’ No.90 when the Yellow Jackets take on the North Carolina Tar Heels.

The Jackets have chosen to honor Adams in multiple ways this season after Adams, a kind and graceful soul passed away this past offseason in a tragic accident. In addition to handing out his No.90 jersey to a worthy player each week, the Jackets have also honored Adams with an on-the-field tribute at Bobby Dodd Stadium as well.

Last week, senior wide receiver Omarhi Jarrett wore No.90 against Temple. Other Yellow Jackets to wear the No.90 jersey this year includes defensive tackle Chris Martin, tight end Tyler Cooksley, and running back Nathan Cottrell.

Through the Jackets first four games this season, Dawson has played in all four and has recorded 11 tackles. He had his best game of the season against The Citadel in week three, recording five tackles. Last week against Temple, he recorded three tackles. He also has one quarterback hurry on the season but is still looking for his first tackle for a loss and sack on the season.

Dawson was expected to be mostly a reserve this season but has had to take a step up in his game with the passing of Brandon Adams. So far, Dawson has done well with the increased workload and with the Jackets going up against a weaker North Carolina offensive line, Dawson could be in line for a big game on Saturday while honoring his fallen teammate.

The Yellow Jackets and Tar Heels are set for a 4:00 pm kickoff on Saturday afternoon at Bobby Dodd Stadium.
