Georgia Tech punter Pressley Harvin III has been selected as the ACC’s top special teams performer for his performance against the Miami Hurricanes this past Saturday.

Georgia Tech’s Pressley Harvin III has been one of the best punters in the country this year and has been a weapon for the Yellow Jackets throughout the season, flipping field position regularly for the Yellow Jackets.

Against Miami, Harvin once again was money for the Yellow Jackets with six punts for a total 273-yards, an average of 45.5 yards per punt. None of his punts landed inside the 20 but that’s alright as his longest punt of the day was a booming 57-yarder.

What earned Harvin his honor for this week’s performance, however, is his touchdown pass. As the Jackets trailed 14-7 in the final minutes of the first quarter, they looked for a spark and turned to Harvin and the punting team for that spark. Harvin took the direct snap on the punt and found a wide-open Nate Cottrell down the sideline who beat one defender and took it in for the score.

For the season, Harvin has 42 punts on the season for 1,838-yards, an average of 43.8 yards per punt. The junior is currently on pace to shatter his career highs in punts (50) and yardage (2205) but will need to lengthen his punts in the last five weeks of the season to break his career high of 44.1 yards per punt. All three career highs came during his freshman season in 2017.

The Yellow Jackets this week will enjoy their second bye week of the season before returning to action on November 2nd to take on the Pittsburgh Panthers. The Panthers currently sit at 5-2 on the season and are winners of four-straight. They’ll take on the Miami Hurricanes this weekend before turning their attention to the Yellow Jackets.
