Believe it or not, the college football season is slowly inching its way towards the final weeks of the 2019 regular season, the Georgia Tech football team sits 2-5 on the season but what are the chances the Jackets can grab another win this season?

Georgia Tech’s first season under Geoff Collins for most has gone to expectations. The Jackets have struggled mightily but are coming off their second win of the season and their first in conference play this season. With seven games down, the Jackets have five games remaining this season starting November 2nd against the Pittsburgh Panthers. Here’s how the rest of the Jackets season lines up and ESPN’s FPI chances for the Jackets to win those remaining games.

Nov. 2 – vs Pittsburgh Panthers

The Pittsburgh Panthers won the ACC Coastal last season and they’re potentially on their way to another potential ACC Coastal division championship. The Panthers are sitting at 5-2 on the season and are winners of four straight including a win over then No. 15 ranked UCF. Their last loss came to the now No. 6 ranked team, the Penn State Nittany Lions on September 14. But even that loss was a close loss, a 17-10 defeat.

ESPN doesn’t like the Jackets chances against the Panthers all that much for their Nov. 2 matchup, giving them just a 30.0% chance to come away with a victory.

Nov.9 – at Virginia Cavaliers

The Cavaliers were the favorites to win the ACC Coastal prior to their loss to Miami two weeks ago. It was their second-straight loss and were able to bounce back strong against the Duke Blue Devils last week. Now, they’ll take on North Carolina before facing the Yellow Jackets on Nov. 9th. The Cavaliers already have a win over the Pittsburgh Panthers (30-14), giving them any tiebreakers over the Panthers. If the Cavaliers get by UNC, their chances of winning the Coastal seem high with just the Jackets, Liberty, and Virginia Tech remaining.

ESPN gives the Jackets their second lowest chance of winning in their remaining games, with a FPI chance of winning at just 8.5%.

Nov.16 – vs Virginia Tech

The Virginia Tech Hokies are in year three of the Justin Fuentes era and only more questions have arisen about the program and Fuentes’ future in Blacksburg. That’s all despite the Hokies quietly being 5-2 on the season and are winners of three-straight. That being said, before taking on the Jackets on Nov. 16, they have matchups against currently ranked No. 8 Notre Dame and No. 25 Wake Forest.

According to ESPN’s FPI, this is the Jackets best remaining chance to pick up a victory the rest of the season with a 38.5% chance of victory. The Jackets have had the Hokies numbers in recent years and the Hokies are a struggling program to say the least, could this be another one of those cases?

Nov. 21 – vs North Carolina State

North Carolina State has been extremely quiet this season and are having themselves an up-and-down season. Entering this weekend, the Wolfpack are 4-3 on the season and are 2-2 in their last four games. They have a tough stretch the next two weeks against No. 25 Wake Forest and No.4 Clemson before taking on Louisville, Georgia Tech, and UNC to finish their season.

ESPN’s FPI believes this is the Jackets second best chance to pick up a victory this season, giving them a 37.1% chance of victory when the Wolfpack comes to Atlanta.

Nov. 28 – vs Georgia Bulldogs

The Bulldogs took a shocking loss two weeks ago to South Carolina and then had an extremely slow start against Kentucky this past weekend. This week they’ll play against Florida in the Worlds Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party with games against Missouri, Auburn, and Texas A&M left on the schedule. There’s a solid chance that the Bulldogs will be 10-1 heading into the final week but there’s an argument to be made that they could also be 8-3 heading into that game.

Unschockingly, this is the Jackets lowest chance of victory according to ESPN’s FPI giving them just a 2.9% chance of victory.

Overall:

As we can see, Georgia Tech isn’t favored to win a single-game the rest of the way and there’s a good chance that the odds makers feel the same way and make the Yellow Jackets double-digit underdogs in each of their remaining games. That being said, while the Jackets aren’t favored to win any of their remaining games, ESPN’s FPI still gives the Jackets a likely record of 3.2-8.8 (3-9).
