Georgia Tech football received some great news in the recruiting department today with the commitment from 2020 3-star OT Paula Vaipulu.
Vaipulu is a highly rated offensive tackle out of Channelview, Texas. This pick up is huge considering the offensive line may be one of the weak points for Georgia Tech’s current roster. Injuries and lack of experience have plagued the Tech offensive line all season long.
The current recruiting class has five offensive line commits and adding a 6th would be huge news for the Yellow Jackets. Depth is what the offensive line needs and Vaipulu has the talent to be a potential impact player immediately.

Vaipulu will be joining the ranks of Cade Kootsouradis, Trent Howard, Ryan Spiers, Wing Green, Jordan Williams, and Michael Rankins for the 2020 class. Rivals has Vaipulu’s talent ranked as a 5.5 3-star recruit, and he adds a really nice size for an incoming freshman. He clocks in a 6-foot 4-inches tall, and weighs 303-pounds. That size alone is bigger than some starters on Tech’s offensive line, and as only a senior in high school, look for Vaipulu to add weight and strength while on his time on the Flats.
Vaipulu’s talent had him offered by other Power 5 programs such as Nebraska, Missouri, Boston College, and Arizona. Competing in recruiting has been a huge step for the Yellow Jackets this year and it seems like that step has been going in the right direction. Vaipulu is the 23rd commitment for the 2020 recruiting class. This commitment came on a big recruiting weekend for Georgia Tech as they host the Pittsburgh Panthers on Saturday afternoon for Homecoming. With a lot of eyes on the Georgia Tech game, Vaipulu’s commitment may help persuade some other recruits to commit in the near possible future.
The game will be hosted on the ACC Network at 4:00 PM EST. The Yellow Jackets are coming fresh off their first ACC victory from a trip to Miami 2 weeks ago. They’ll look to improve to (2-3) in ACC play and (3-5) overall.
