Heading into the Yellow Jackets 3rd game of the season, the men’s basketball team looks to follow in the footsteps as the women’s as the women’s basketball defeated the Bulldogs on their home turf, 73-40, under new HC Nell Fortner.

Keys of the Game:

  • Georgia Tech has lost 4-straight against the Bulldogs and look to end that streak and regain their dominance in the basketball rivalry.
  •  Khalid Moore, James Banks III, and Michael Devoe will need to make instant impacts. Banks leads the nation with 5.5 BPG and Moore is 3rd in nation in SPG with 4.5. Devoe has been the offense weapon the past two games, averaging 22 PPG.
  •  With a win tonight, the Yellow Jackets will have begun their first 3-0 start since the 2015-2016 season.

Scouting Report:

The Bulldogs are definitely not a push over, if the Jackets want to come away with a win, they’ll have to slow down true freshman Anthony Edwards who is averaging 19.7 PPG in just under 3 games. The Bulldogs also proved last game, beating Delaware State 100-66, that their offensive production can be produced down low as well. Rayshaun Hammonds and Amanze Ngumezi combined for 42 points in that blowout home victory. Hammonds is quietly entering the game averaging a double-double with 14.3 PPG and 11.7 RPG.

The Jackets will look to stop rising star Edwards first, but they do not need to take their eyes off the likes of inside players such as Hammonds and Ngumezi. The Bulldogs enter the rivalry game 3-0 with wins over Delaware State, Western Carolina, and The Citadel.

Staying On Course:

The Yellow Jackets started this season with a huge win over ACC opponent NC state, 82-81 in overtime. The win acknowledged just how capable the Yellow Jackets are offensively and defensively. The Wolfpack have since then decimated opponents going 4-0 over their next 4 games after the loss. The Yellow Jackets have proved early on that they can beat a great team, but can they continue this success over bitter rival Georgia?

The Jackets opened with only 4 games in this beginning month of college basketball, but this added an additional 9 days to prepare for Tom Crean’s Bulldogs. Pastner will look to have the Jackets ready to play with all the additional preparation time. This roster, under Pastner, is arguably his most talented roster yet, and with a win over Georgia, the Yellow Jackets will be in good shape heading into their next game against Arkansas.

How To Watch:

The game will be streamed on the SEC Network +, found easily on the ESPN App if your current provider supports the channel. Radio coverage will be in Atlanta using 680 AM or 93.7 FM. A radio broadcast can also be found on the GT Gameday App.

Tip-Off is at 7:00 PM EST, at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, Georgia. The Yellow Jackets have started 2 of their first 3 games on the road, while this will be the 4th straight contest at home for the Bulldogs.
