Georgia Tech Football 2019 in Review: A trio of No. 11’s
Three players on Georgia Tech football’s roster wear No. 11 but only one of them appeared in a game in 2019.
In our continuation of reviewing the 2019 season, we review the three No.11’s on Georgia Tech football’s roster.
DE Antonneous Clayton
A former five-star recruit, Anntoneous Clayton transferred to the The Flats last spring. The Yellow Jackets attempted to obtain a waiver for Clayton to play right away in 2019 but that waiver was denied by the NCAA. With that, Clayton had to sit out the entire 2019 season.
Clayton will be eligible to play in 2020 and should be a starter for the Yellow Jackets next season on their defensive line. The Vienna, Georgia native didn’t have the career he hoped down on The Swamp with the Florida Gators but starting in 2020 it’s a fresh slate for Clayton who’ll look to be a game changer for the Yellow Jackets.
WR Marquez Ezzard
Like Clayton, Ezzard is a transfer to Georgia Tech from the Sunshine State. Ezzard transfered to The Flats after spending his true freshman season with the Miami Hurricanes. With the Hurricanes, Ezzard recorded two receptions for 24-yards. Also like Clayton, the Jackets seeked a waiver for Ezzard but it was denied.
In 2020, Ezzard will look to become one of the Jackets top wide receivers and will add another much needed playmaker to the Jackets receiving core and offense overall. Fans will rightfully so look for big things out of the former four-star out of Stockbridge, GA.
DB Devin Smith
The final No.11 on Georgia Tech’s roster was Acworth, Georgia native Devin Smith. Smith just finished up his redshirt sophomore season with the program. Smith appeared in four games for the Yellow Jackets in 2019. In those four games, Smith recorded a single tackle against Temple, the second of his career.Smith is currently set to return in 2020 for his redshirt junior season.
