Georgia Tech walk-on quarterback Ryan Lantz didn’t see playing time in 2019 but plays an important part in the Jackets development team.

In our continuation of going through each of Georgia Tech’s players and recapping their 2019 season we have arrived at walk-on quarterback Ryan Lantz. Lantz, a native of North Palm Beach, Florida is finishing up his redshirt freshman year on The Flats after a productive high school career at Suncoast Community High School.

This past season, Lantz didn’t appear in any games for the Yellow Jackets but instead was a developmental team quarterback. His only appearance on the field this season came in the Yellow Jackets spring game back in April. In that spring game, Lantz performed well, completing 5-of-8 passing attempts for 106-yards. He did throw one interception in the game as well.

At one point this season it appeared that Lantz could possibly see playing time as the Jackets began to see injuries start affecting them at the quarterback position. It never got to the point that Lantz had to play but it’s safe to say he was only a few plays away from having to do so at the same time.

2020 Outlook:

Lantz in 2020 will resume his roll as a developmental team quarterback. It may not be a star position but like all other developmental team players, Lantz will play an important role in the Jackets season next year. If the Yellow Jacket see any attrition at the position, Lantz will climb up the depth chart but it would still take a lot for the Florida native to see the field in 2020.
