Georgia Tech Football: Six 2020 signees begin career on The Flats
Six of Georgia Tech’s 2020 signees began their careers on The Flats on Sunday when they moved into their new places of residence.
The six players who enrolled on Sunday are four-star quarterback Jeff Sims, three-star offensive lineman Jordan Williams, three-star cornerback Jalen Huff, three-star quarterback Tucker Gleason, three-star defensive end Akelo Stone, and three-star offensive lineman Ryan Spiers. Also likely beginning his career on Sunday is Tennessee transfer Ryan Johnson.
These six Yellow Jackets will now have practically a full off-season with the program, allowing them to get a head start on their development both on and off the field. For players around the country, enrolling early could be the difference between seeing playing time as a true freshman and redshirting your freshman season.
Having six players enroll early is certainly not something Georgia Tech has been used to as last year, just three early enrollees. Additionally, many of the country’s top programs often see anywhere up to half of their recruiting classes enroll early, just to get that full offseason with the program under their belt.

Of course, the monumental day for these six Yellow Jackets also comes with a bit of sadness. As Deerfield Beach, Florida native Bryce Gowdy was set to enroll at Tech as an early enrollee. Gowdy, however, unfortunately, Gowdy passed away last weekend.
The rest of Georgia Tech’s 2020 recruiting class will enroll on The Flats this upcoming summer. The jackets currently have three commitments who have yet to sign with the program and could receive another commitment or two before the “end” of the recruiting cycle in February.
